What's the longest boat ride you've ever been on?

Well, it wasnt really a boat ride but it was an experience with a boat. When I was in late elementary and Junior High I went to Lake Powell often with my friend Johnny K. One time in the late afernoon we were boating across the main channel towards our camping spot when the boat quit. I was 12 or so so I dont have any idea why. Johnnys dads decision was to pull the boat the rest of the way. I thought that was a logical solution until I realized that he meant we were going to pull the boat ourselves. We jumped into the water with our life vest on and johnny, christen and I pushed teh ski boat from teh back while his mom pulled from a rope in front. It didnt take long until us kids were worn out and wondering why Mr. K wasnt in the water with us; as I popped my head up to see onto the boat I saw him holding the orange flag with one hand and a beer in the other. Ahhh... he has the important job. That image is burned in my mind, mom pulling, kids pushing, dad drinking. I was mad at the time but now I dont care.

The wind picked up, as it so often does there, and the lake became very choppy. There were no boats left on the lake; they had all gone to shore, away from the enormous swells. We eventually made it to our camp site where there was a seadoo that would have been very useful that afternoon. That swim seemed like the LONGEST swim of my life, and might actualy have been. The trip in general was still a lot of fun. I always had fun going to the lake with them. That was when me and Johnny were still best friends, before junior high split us up. Good times
